Damn, Eric, Why havent anyone thought of that? Thats amazing! Like I have always wondered why people are so worried about starvation in Africa and discusses it like it is a really hard problem to solve, but I always think "Why don´t they just buy some food if they are so hungry?"

Sometimes smart people just do not seem that smart.

What happened to grade school biology in the climate debate? If CO2 is the problem, then plant more trees! Plants consume CO2 and emit O2. Problem solved.

Re: Krugman on Cap-and-Trade: "We Can Do This"
Atlantic Online (blog)

Prof. Krugman is a certified whiz at economics
But "actually knows" little more than you or I
About the ins and outs of climatology--
A science clearly on par with numerology.

But he does have a way with words: For example, in one article--
Several months ago, the N Y Times ran it--
He made the (seemingly unfounded) allegation
That those opposing GW(ing) views ". . . want to parboil(sic) the planet".

So it's quite understandable, in the present instance,
That he should think (as does another scientist, Albert Gore)
That imposing more taxes on carbon will have the effect
Of halting Mann-made changes in climate that all good economists deplore.

But that doesn't mean we should give his views credence
Any more than we should those of Al Gore--
A fellow involved in the Love Canal cleanup
And who invented the internet, furthermore!

That is not to say, of course,
Prof. Krugman should not freely have his say
About matters within, or outside the scope of his discipline--to anyone at all,
Including students at the university in Princeton, NJ.
